Harry Gray Hits Hat Trick In National League Cup Masterclass

It's been a mental few months for Leeds United talent Harry Gray. He's been in the Leeds men's team, England U17s and smashing life with Leeds U21s. However last night was really a night to remember for Harry.

RECENT FORM
Gray has been absolutely unstoppable recently. Gray has played three games in the PL2, scoring a brace against Aston Villa and was on the scoresheet again in the game after against Ipswich Town. He then picked up a goal and an assist the week after against Burnley. He then faced Port Vale in the Vertu Motors Trophy where he set up Josh McDonald's early goal. And the best was yet to come...

Scunthorpe 1-3 Leeds United U21s: The Harry Gray Masterclass:
Leeds U21s won this tournament last season defeating Sutton United in the final. Gray actually scored the winner in that game, winning Leeds the competition in it's maiden season. Leeds' first game of the 2025/2026 NL Cup campaign was a few weeks prior to the Scunthorpe fixture. Leeds faced off against Boston United and suffered a 4-0 defeat at the Jakemans Community Stadium. However, this game was another chance for Leeds to show their worth.
After a slow 30 minutes, it would be Leeds who would break the deadlock in Lincolnshire through Harry Gray, who was in the right place at the right time to tap in Rhys Chadwick's ball across the box which handed Leeds the opener. With Leeds going into the second half with a 1-0 lead, it would be Scunthorpe who would instantly reply in the 48th minute Carlton Ubaezuonu. After 25+ minutes without much action, it would be Harry Gray again who would get his second through a sublime free kick. Stood Closer to the corner flag than the goal, Gray swung his effort on target aiming for the top right corner which he found, despite Scunthorpe keeper Rory Watson getting a hand Gray's effort was too powerful.
With a lack of action happening since Gray's second goal, he went and found the net again in superb fashion. Picking up the ball on the halfway line from Louis Enahoro-Marcus and driving at speed towards the Scunthorpe goal. Gray let fly from quite a distance beating Watson in the Scunthorpe net with a powerful effort that ended up in the bottom left corner. Gray ended up leaving the Attis Arena with the match ball! He also left the stadium as the NL Cup top scorer.

A FEW WORDS FROM GRAY:
"I'm happy with the three goals, but I should've had more to be fair. Two chances I missed, so I can always improve. It was good to have different types of goals to score too, it makes your game unpredictable, I don't care how I score them as long as we win. We played well today and got a result from it, which is great for everyone. Now we just need to keep working hard as always and enjoying the games, being confident and feeling good.'"
