Joan Gamper trophy showcases Barca's new signings, La Masia Talents

One of the highlights of the Joan Gamper Trophy 5-0 victory on Sunday was the chance to see summer signings in action alongside La Masia youngsters aiming to make their mark on the Barcelona team. Manager Hansi Flick used the friendly against Como to give minutes to his three new recruits — Joan Garcia, Marcus Rashford, and Roony Bardghji, as well as academy products Dro Fernández, Toni Fernández, and Jofre Torrents. All six left a positive impression on the home fans.

Joan Garcia: 90 Minutes, Clean Sheet

Wearing the number 1 jersey, Joan Garcia played the full match and kept a clean sheet. He made three key saves and showed composure under pressure. While Como’s attack didn’t test him heavily, his distribution was sharp, helping speed up play from the back.

Marcus Rashford: 45 Minutes, Assist on Home Debut

Starting as the number 9, Marcus Rashford had a lively first half. He missed a clear scoring chance after a brilliant solo run, but redeemed himself by assisting Raphinha’s third goal and his movements showed glimpses of new dimensions in Hansi Flick's attack. He was replaced at halftime by Ferran Torres.

The young attacking midfielder Dro Fernandez, replaced Fermín Lopez, who was named man of the match and quickly adapted to the rhythm. He handled pressure well and linked up smartly with Koundé and Toni in a move that nearly resulted in Barça’s sixth goal.

Coming on for Raphinha, Toni Fernández showed his trademark audacity. Initially positioned deeper, he later pushed forward into attacking roles. His combination play with ‘Dro’ almost produced a goal.

Positive Signs for the Season Ahead

Between seasoned signings and promising academy talent, Barça’s Joan Gamper Trophy performance hinted at depth, energy, and fresh options for Hansi Flick as the season approaches. Barca will begin their La Liga title defense at Mallorca on Saturday.
