Jurrien Timber Hails “Amazing” Noni Madueke as Arsenal’s Newest Nightmare for Opponents
Arsenal’s strong start to the 2025/26 season has been powered by defensive solidity, attacking flair, and the emergence of new signings who are already making their mark. Among them, Noni Madueke has quickly silenced early doubts and earned high praise from teammate Jurrien Timber, who described the England international as the kind of player “opponents hate facing.”

Madueke’s Impact: From Doubts to Dominance
Madueke arrived at Arsenal from Chelsea over the summer to mixed reactions from fans, but his performances have quickly turned heads. He starred in the 3–0 win over Nottingham Forest and followed it up with a lively display in Arsenal’s 2–0 Champions League victory over Athletic Bilbao, where he consistently tormented defenders down the right flank.
Timber, speaking after the Bilbao match, didn’t hold back in his admiration:
“Yeah, he does amazing. I knew him already from before, so I’m not surprised to be fair. Such a threat and I don’t think any opponent likes to play against him.”
A Familiar Foe Turned Ally
Timber’s praise carries extra weight given his personal history with Madueke. The two have faced off three times in their careers — and Timber has never beaten him.
- 2018/19: Madueke’s PSV U19s defeated Timber’s Ajax U19s 1–0.
- 2021 Johan Cruyff Shield: PSV thrashed Ajax 4–0, with Madueke starring.
- 2024/25 Premier League: Chelsea and Arsenal drew 1–1 at Stamford Bridge, keeping Madueke’s unbeaten record against Timber intact.
Now teammates at Arsenal, Timber is clearly relieved to have Madueke on his side — and not lining up against him.
Praise from Pundits
Madueke’s performances have also caught the attention of pundits. Rio Ferdinand recently praised the winger’s dynamism, while Gary Neville went a step further, comparing him to Dutch legend Arjen Robben — a nod to Madueke’s left-footed brilliance and ability to cut inside with menace.
Arsenal’s Attacking Arsenal
With Madueke thriving alongside Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Eberechi Eze, Arsenal’s forward line is looking more unpredictable and dangerous than ever. Mikel Arteta’s side has won four of their five matches in all competitions, conceding just once — and Madueke’s ability to stretch defences and create chaos is proving invaluable.
As the season unfolds, Madueke’s blend of pace, flair, and fearlessness could be the X-factor Arsenal need to challenge for silverware on multiple fronts. And if Timber’s words are anything to go by, the Premier League’s defenders are in for a long, uncomfortable season.
