Potential Premier League Records to Watch This Weekend

The latest round of Premier League fixtures could see several players and clubs edge closer to — or even break — some impressive records. Here are the key milestones to keep an eye on.

Salah Chasing Gerrard’s Derby Record

Mohamed Salah has eight Premier League goals in Merseyside derbies, leaving him just one behind Steven Gerrard’s all-time tally of nine. A goal against Everton this weekend would see Salah equal the Liverpool legend’s record.

Spurs Looking to Avoid Brighton Hat-Trick

Tottenham have lost on each of their last two league visits to Brighton. They have never lost three in a row away to the Seagulls in the Premier League era — defeat this weekend would set an unwanted first.

Chris Wood Closing in on Anelka

Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood has netted 14 Premier League goals against former clubs, with two coming against Burnley at Turf Moor in May 2024. Only Nicolas Anelka (18) has more in the competition’s history.

Mateta Threatens West Ham Again

Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta has a fine recent record against West Ham, scoring four goals in his last three league appearances against the Hammers. He has netted Palace’s last four Premier League goals against them, and could move closer to Wilfried Zaha’s club record of five.

Harrison’s Happy Hunting Ground

Jack Harrison enjoys playing at Molineux, having scored in three of his last four league visits. That includes goals for Leeds in 2022 and 2023, as well as for Everton in March 2025. Wolves will be wary of history repeating itself.

Mbeumo’s Stamford Bridge Streak

All six of Bryan Mbeumo’s goal involvements against Chelsea (3 goals, 3 assists) have come at Stamford Bridge. It’s already a Premier League record for the most combined goals and assists against one opponent, with none coming at home. Can he carry on his away form against the Blues now in a United shirt?

Semenyo’s Red-Hot Start

Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo is enjoying a superb season. With three goals and two assists, no player has been involved in more Premier League goals so far. He’ll look to add to that tally this weekend.

Watkins Targets Villa Record

Ollie Watkins has 12 goal involvements in his last nine league matches against newly promoted clubs. He now sits level with Gabriel Agbonlahor on 20 overall (10 goals, 10 assists) for Aston Villa in the competition. One more contribution vs Sunderland this weekend would put him out on his own as Villa’s best against promoted sides.

Plenty of storylines to follow — from Salah chasing Gerrard’s Merseyside record to Watkins closing in on Villa history. This weekend could deliver some notable moments across the league.

Anthony Gordon hails Barcelona duo after Newcastle’s Champions League defeat
Anthony Gordon may have scored his first-ever Champions League goal, but the Newcastle winger was far more focused on the opposition after Thursday night’s clash with Barcelona. Rather than celebrating in front of the home crowd at St James’ Park, Gordon quickly retrieved the ball from the net, desperate to spark a comeback. His strike, however, wasn’t enough as Eddie Howe’s side slipped to a 2-1 defeat, with Marcus Rashford’s brace proving decisive. Missed chances prove costly for Newcastle

Long throws are back — and the numbers explain why
There’s a quiet tactical shift happening in the Premier League: the long throw-in is back in fashion.
