Sheffield Wednesday To Make Move for Former Birmingham City Coach

Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly exploring the possibility of adding experienced coach Pete Shuttleworth to Henrik Pedersen’s backroom staff at Hillsborough, according to The Star.

Shuttleworth’s Coaching Journey

The 46-year-old Derby-born coach is no stranger to South Yorkshire, having previously worked as assistant manager at Sheffield FC in the early stages of his career. Over the past decade, Shuttleworth has built an impressive résumé, often working alongside former England striker Wayne Rooney.

Their coaching partnership has taken him to Derby County, MLS side DC United, Birmingham City, and most recently Plymouth Argyle, before stepping down from his role at Home Park in 2023 due to personal reasons.

Recent Spell at Wycombe Wanderers

After a short break from the game, Shuttleworth joined Mike Dodds at Wycombe Wanderers as assistant manager earlier this year. However, following Dodds’ exit from the Chairboys this week, Shuttleworth has also departed Adams Park and is now available for his next challenge.

Potential Role at Sheffield Wednesday

With Sheffield Wednesday looking to strengthen their technical staff, Henrik Pedersen could turn to Shuttleworth as a key addition. So far, Pedersen’s only appointment has been Craig Mudd, who joined from Manchester City’s academy setup earlier this summer.

Bringing in a coach with Championship and international experience could prove valuable as Wednesday look to turn around their difficult start to the 2025/26 season.
